Description Google Reader is a tool for gathering, reading, and sharing all the interesting blogs and websites you read on the web.
Process
  1. Go to http://www.google.com/reader
  2. If you do not have a Google account, click Create an account.
  3. Once logged in, click the Add a subscription button.
  4. Enter a search term or a direct RSS URL and click Add.
  5. Find the appropriate web page and click the Subscribe button.
  6. Click the title for your subscription under your subscriptions panel to view the feed.
  7. Now you can subscibe to as many feeds as you would like (we recommend creating some folders to organize your feeds) e.g. Teaching Resources, Student Resources, Latest News, Entertainment, etc.

Suggested Inquiry Activities

Google Reader is a great tool for compiling information and connecting students to current events and issues.
Having students maintain a feed aggregator (another name for a reader) will allow them to constantly formulate questions about topics of class or personal interest. 
An RSS reader is a great launcing point for web-based research.  Students can instantly access the most current information from credible research sites such as the Library of Congress.
